Frequently Asked Questions

How does Nourished Natural Wellness work with Integrative Wellness Grand Rapids (IWGR)?

Nourished Natural Wellness LLC operates independently and separately from Integrative Wellness Grand Rapids. Dr. Kelsey is partnering and provides services at IWGR as an independent contractor under Nourished Natural Wellness LLC. While practicing within the IWGR clinic setting, services are provided under the medical delegation and supervision of Dr. Zhiling Trowbridge.

Is care at covered by insurance?

No, naturopathic care at NNW and IWGR is a cash-based practice and does not accept insurance. This approach allows for personalized, unrushed, and root-cause-focused care, something the traditional insurance model often limits. Because naturopathic medicine is not yet licensed in the state of Michigan, insurance reimbursement is not available. This structure allows your care to remain guided by you and your needs, rather than by insurance restrictions.

Are lab tests covered by insurance?

Standard lab testing (such as baseline bloodwork) may be paid for out-of-pocket using cash-pay pricing or an HSA/FSA card, depending on your healthcare plan and provider policies. In some cases, certain conventional lab tests may be eligible for insurance coverage, and patients will be informed of any available options prior to testing.

Functional lab testing — including urine, stool, saliva, or hair analysis — is typically not covered by insurance. These advanced tests are designed to provide a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of the body’s function and help guide individualized wellness recommendations and care plans.

How do I prepare for my initial visit?

New patient paperwork and intake forms that will be sent and emailed to you directly from the administrative team at IWGR. Please complete them at least 72 hours before your appointment. This allows Dr. Kelsey to review your information in advance and come fully prepared to make the most of your first visit together.

Are in-person services available?

Yes. In-person appointments are now available on Tuesdays at Integrative Wellness Grand Rapids. All other appointment times throughout the week are offered virtually through telehealth. This allows for flexible care options while still maintaining dedicated in-person availability once a week.

How do I pay for my services?

A credit card is required on file prior to your appointment. Payment is processed at the time of service. Please note that cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or missed appointments may be subject to a small cancellation fee.

How do I know if naturopathic care is right for me?

Naturopathic care may be a great fit if you’re looking for a deeper, more personalized approach to your health—one that explores the why behind your symptoms rather than simply managing them. If you want a provider who takes time to understand your full health story, looks for root causes, and uses natural, evidence-informed strategies to support your body’s healing, naturopathic medicine can be an excellent match.

It’s especially helpful if you’re navigating chronic symptoms, hormone imbalances, digestive concerns, fatigue, stress, or simply feel unheard or overlooked in traditional care. Naturopathic care is collaborative, empowering, and designed to meet you where you are so you can move toward long-term, sustainable wellness.

If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, you can always schedule a discovery call to learn more and see if this approach aligns with your goals.
